This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application IR Blaster Tester ("the Application", "we", "us", or "our") handles user privacy and information. We take your privacy with the utmost seriousness and have architected this application with a privacy-by-design, offline-first approach.
Summary: IR Blaster Tester does NOT collect, transmit, store externally, share, or sell any personal information or camera data. All hardware queries and camera optical analyses occur 100% locally on your device.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
IR Blaster Tester does not gather any personally identifiable information (PII). Specifically:
- No Accounts or Logins: You do not need to register, provide an email address, or create an account to use the application.

- No Advertising Networks: The application does not contain advertisements or advertising tracking libraries.
- No Cloud Backend: The application does not communicate with external cloud servers or remote databases.
2. Device Permissions and How They Are Used
The Application requests only the minimal Android runtime permissions strictly required to perform its diagnostic capabilities:
-
Camera Permission (
android.permission.CAMERA):
Purpose: Used exclusively for the "Camera IR Test" and "Remote Test" features.
Handling: The camera feed is analyzed in real-time in volatile system RAM using Android CameraXImageAnalysisto detect rapid optical luminance variations emitted by infrared remote control LEDs.
Strict Guarantee: Camera frames and images are never photographed, recorded, saved to permanent storage, or transmitted off your device. When you leave the camera screen, camera resources and memory buffers are immediately released. -
Infrared Transmitter Permission (
android.permission.TRANSMIT_IR):
Purpose: Allows the application to call Android's nativeConsumerIrManager.transmit()API to test whether your device's built-in infrared emitter can broadcast IR carrier signals.
Handling: This operation is performed strictly on your local hardware. -
Vibrate Permission (
android.permission.VIBRATE):
Purpose: Provides tactile haptic feedback when you tap buttons, transmit IR pulses, or when an IR signal is optically detected. You can disable haptic feedback at any time in Settings.
3. Local Device Data Storage
The Application saves limited diagnostic data strictly on your device's private local storage using Android Room Database and DataStore Preferences:
- Test History: If you perform an IR signal transmission or camera test, the local timestamp, test type, pass/fail status, and frequency are saved locally so you can review your history. You can clear this history at any time from the app Settings or History screen.
- User Preferences: Your selected theme (Dark/Light), camera selection (Rear/Front), and haptic preference.
This data never leaves your device and is automatically erased if you uninstall the application or clear app data via Android system settings.
