Privacy Policy - MsgReader: Unseen Chat
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MsgReader: Unseen Chat ("we," "our," or "the App") handles your information. Your privacy is our top priority, and the App is designed to offer maximum protection by keeping your data entirely local.
🔒 100% Offline & Local: MsgReader does not require or request the INTERNET permission. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share your chat history, notifications, or personal data with any external servers or third parties.
1. Information We Access
To provide its core functions, the App accesses notifications on your device:
- Notification Listener Service: The App uses the standard Android
NotificationListenerServiceto intercept chat notifications from selected messaging platforms (such as standard WA, WAB, TG, MSGR, and SG). This allows you to read incoming messages privately from within the App. - Mime Types & Emojis: The App parses notification text descriptors (e.g. "📷 Photo", "🎤 Voice Note") to organize your text logs locally.
2. Data Storage and Security
All intercepted chat histories are saved locally on your device within an encrypted Android Room SQLite database. This database is sandboxed within the App's secure private directory. No data is stored in public directories, and no third-party apps can access this database.
We provide a Passcode App Lock feature (4-digit security PIN) to protect your local data logs from unauthorized physical access to your device.
3. Device Permissions Required
The App requests the following permissions to function:
- Notification Access (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE): Required to intercept and log incoming notifications. The App displays a prominent privacy disclosure explaining this before you grant permission in system settings.
- Post Notifications: Required on Android 13+ to display status alerts when the background service is running.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
You have full control over your data. You can delete your log history at any time:
- Auto Self-Destruct: You can set an expiration timer (e.g., delete messages older than 24 Hours, 7 Days, or 30 Days) inside Settings. Pinned chats are excluded from deletion.
- Manual Clear: You can clear the entire chat database at any time using the "Clear Chat Logs" button in Settings, or swipe left on a conversation card on the main screen to delete a single conversation log.
5. Third-Party Services & Disclaimers
MsgReader does not integrate any third-party software development kits (SDKs), advertising networks, or analytics tools. We have no trackers or internet connections.
Disclaimer: This App is not affiliated with, sponsored, or endorsed by WhatsApp Inc. (WA/WAB), Telegram Messenger Inc. (TG), Meta Platforms Inc. (MSGR), or the Signal Messenger Foundation (SG). All trademarks displayed on the App are the property of their respective owners.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Since the App has no internet access, policy changes will be packaged and updated along with new App updates on the Google Play Store.
