Privacy Policy - Negative Film Scanner
Privacy Policy for Negative Film Scanner
Effective Date: August 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Negative Film Scanner ("the Application", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users of the Application.
1. 100% On-Device Processing & Data Security
Your privacy is fundamental to us. Negative Film Scanner is engineered to process all camera frames, film scans, and photo imports 100% locally on your device using OpenCV image processing routines. We do not transmit, upload, store, or sell any of your photos, camera previews, or scanned film images to any remote servers.
2. Information We Collect and Permissions Used
A. Camera Access (android.permission.CAMERA)
The Application requires access to your device's camera solely to display the real-time live viewfinder for scanning analog film negatives. Camera frames are processed strictly in your device's volatile memory (RAM) and are never recorded or stored without your explicit action (tapping the shutter button).
B. Device Storage Access
When you save a processed film scan or import a negative image via Android's Storage Access Framework (SAF), the Application accesses your device storage solely to write or read image files in your designated public media directories (e.g., Pictures/FilmReader). We do not access any unrelated files or personal media.
C. Third-Party Advertising & Device Identifiers
The Application integrates Google AdMob and the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to display advertisements (Banner, Interstitial, and App Open Ads). Google AdMob may collect and use certain diagnostic, usage, and advertising data (such as your Advertising ID, IP address, device model, and OS version) to serve personalized or non-personalized ads in compliance with Google Play Developer Policies.
3. European Economic Area (EEA) & GDPR Compliance
For users located within the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the Application presents a consent management dialog via Google UMP prior to serving ads. You have the right to grant, revoke, or modify your ad consent preferences at any time through the in-app settings or system consent settings.
4. Data Retention
Saved photo scans and user calibration settings (such as film stock preferences and color mask values) remain stored exclusively on your device within local app preferences (SharedPreferences) and local media storage until you delete them or uninstall the Application.
5. Children's Privacy
The Application is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
