Rain Sounds for Sleep is an ambient sound and relaxation application for Android. The App allows users to mix nature sounds, set sleep timers, use guided breathing exercises, and save custom sound presets. We respect your privacy — we do not collect, store, or sell any personal information on our own servers.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) directly. The App stores the following data only on your device:
- Sound Presets: Your custom-saved sound mixtures and volume settings, stored in Android SharedPreferences on your device.
- App Theme Preference: Your selected visual theme (e.g., Midnight, Ocean, Sunset), stored locally.
- Default Preset Flag: A flag indicating whether default presets have been loaded, stored locally.
None of this data is transmitted to us or any third party (except as described under Advertising below).
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements, including banner ads, interstitial ads, native ads, and app open ads. Google AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, including:
- Advertising ID (Android Ad ID)
- IP address and general location data
- Device information (model, OS version, language)
- App usage and interaction data

The App integrates the following third-party SDKs:

- ExoPlayer (Media3) — Audio playback (no data collection)
5. Permissions
The App requests the following Android permissions:
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: Required to play sounds continuously in the background while the screen is off.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+): Required to show the playback notification with playback controls.
- INTERNET: Required to load advertisements via Google AdMob.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required by AdMob to check network availability.
- WAKE_LOCK: Required to keep audio playing during sleep timer sessions.
We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, location, or any other sensitive device resources.
6. Children's Privacy
Rain Sounds for Sleep is rated for users aged 3 and above (Everyone on Google Play). The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The advertising within the App is served by Google AdMob, which has its own compliance mechanisms for child-directed apps under COPPA and the Google Play Families Policy.

7. Data Security
Since we do not collect or transmit any personal data ourselves, there is no risk of your personal data being exposed through our servers. All locally stored preferences on your device are protected by Android's standard app sandboxing security model.
8. Data Retention
Local data (presets, theme preferences) is retained on your device until you uninstall the App or manually clear the App's data through Android Settings. We have no access to this data and cannot delete it on your behalf.
9. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your data:
- Right to Access: All your data is stored locally on your device and fully accessible to you.
- Right to Deletion: You can delete all App data by going to Settings → Apps → Rain Sounds for Sleep → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the App.
- Right to Opt Out of Personalized Ads: Follow the instructions in Section 3 above.
- CCPA (California): We do not sell personal information. California residents may exercise opt-out rights via Google's ad settings.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the App listing on Google Play with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
