Core Commitment: USB Mouse Tester is a standalone hardware testing and diagnostic tool. We do not collect, transmit, store, or sell any personal data, account credentials, or tracking telemetry. All mouse input measurements (clicks, scroll steps, speed, polling rates, and DPI calibrations) are processed exclusively in real-time in device memory and remain strictly on your device.

2. Data Handling & Hardware Testing

A. Input Diagnostics & Sensor Data

When you connect a physical USB or wireless dongle mouse via a USB OTG adapter, the App reads USB Human Interface Device (HID) reports and Android motion events to measure performance:

Button Presses & Clicks: Left, Right, Middle, and Side button clicks are registered solely to test switch responsiveness and double-click interval timing.
Motion & Coordinate Deltas (dX/dY): Relative movement counts are processed in temporary memory to render motion trails and measure tracking speed in counts per second (CPS).
Scroll Wheel Events: Wheel rotation steps (+1 / -1) are evaluated to verify scrolling encoders.
Hardware Descriptors: Vendor ID (VID), Product ID (PID), device names, and USB interface descriptors are read directly from the connected peripheral to display hardware specifications.

None of this diagnostic information is ever uploaded to any remote server or transmitted across the internet.

B. On-Device Storage

The App provides optional local storage features for your convenience:

Test History Database: When you complete a guided full test or save a benchmark result, the summary metrics (e.g., date, device name, peak polling rate, button counts) are saved locally in an SQLite (Room) database on your device. You can clear individual entries or erase the entire database anytime within the App's History screen.
App Preferences: Settings such as UI theme (System, Light, Dark), benchmark test duration, and haptic feedback toggles are saved locally via Android Jetpack DataStore.

3. Android Permissions Used

The App requests only standard Android permissions strictly necessary for its advertised functionality:

android.hardware.usb.host (USB OTG Host): Enables communication with USB mouse hardware connected via OTG adapters to read HID reports. (Declared with android:required="false" to ensure broad device compatibility).
android.permission.INTERNET: Required exclusively to fetch and display third-party advertisements via the Google Mobile Ads SDK and verify consent status via the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP).
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Enables the advertising SDK to check network reachability before requesting ad units.
android.permission.VIBRATE: Provides subtle, optional tactile haptic feedback during button clicks and completed test stages. Can be toggled off anytime in Settings.

4. Third-Party Services & Advertising

To support ongoing development and provide the application free of charge, the App integrates Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) and the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP).

These third-party SDKs may collect and process certain non-personally identifiable device data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy, including:

USB Mouse Tester is a technical hardware diagnostic utility. It is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
